Question

I started a 2022 return on TT download version. Where is it?

I cannot find the return I already started.

    Did you save the tax return before you exited the TurboTax program you installed on your personal computer?

    I thought so, but maybe not.  
    I guess I thought the TT download version saved as I went. 

    If I need to start over, how do I import details from last years return filed with TT?  I don't get a prompt to do that.

    Just start the TurboTax program.  Then select New Tax Return in the File menu located in the upper left of the desktop program screen.

    If you have the 2021 tax data file on your computer located in the TurboTax folder of the Documents directory, it will be shown in the list for tax returns to Transfer to the 2022 return.  If not shown you can browse you computer for the 2021 tax data file, if available.

    Unless you never saved it ... it should be in the TurboTax folder in your documents.

    Search your computer for File type = .tax2022.

    On a Windows computer ... 

     - use File/Windows Explorer

     - search for: type:=.tax2022

    You can copy that directly to File/Windows Explorer search window
