Question

I reside in WA and have been offered a job in CA. The employer has advised that I can work remotely from WA. Will I be taxed by CA state or only in WA? Any caveats?

- I may travel to CA once every few months for a few days for meetings etc
- WA doesnt have any state income tax

You will only be taxed in CA on the earnings earned in CA ... the employer should separate these on the W-2 form for you automatically.  So you will file a non resident CA return for the CA income.   Ask the employer how they handle this separation of wages.

Great, thanks for the response.

How does it work for the occasional visits to HQ in that case? Would I have to declare that I worked for X number of days from CA when I travelled there for meetings etc?
