Question

I need to file Form 8828. I could not locate it in the program. How can I download it ?

Form 8828 is not supported in TurboTax.  You can download a copy of Form 8828 at the IRS website https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8828.pdf.  The link below has a list of forms that are not included in TurboTax.

form 8828 instruction  clearly says that we cannot file 8828 separately. whats the work around when using TurboTax?

Enter the amount from Form 8828 on line 17b of Schedule 2, Form 1040 (Recapture of federal mortgage subsidy).

 

You will need TurboTax CD/Download.

 

How do I switch from TurboTax Online to TurboTax CD/Download?

 

  1. Tap Forms in the top right
  2. Select 1040/1040SR Wks in the left column
  3. Find Schedule 2 – Additional Taxes and go to Part II line 17b
  4. Enter the amount from Form 8828
  5. Tap Step-by-Step in the top right to return to the interview mode

Mail your return with your hand prepared Form 8828, Use certified mail with return receipt so you have proof the IRS received your return.
