I had to file by mail but I can't find anywhere to update this status. Why the hell not?

What do you mean by "update this status?" TurboTax never knows if you put your tax return in an envelope and took it to a mailbox. It is up to you to keep records of that for yourself so that next year you will remember how you filed. Keep some notes for yourself with the copy of your return that you print out for yourself and note the date that you mailed it. TurboTax will not ever get any information from the IRS or state after you e-file or mail a return.
