I had Essential Plan for 2018...no 1095A. How do I get past that section? You want info.

Take these steps:

  • Choose that I had insurance all year
  • I did have a state marketplace plan
  • Check New York State Medicaid or Child Health Plus , because even though those are not what your plan is named, if you click the Learn More section, it says: 

Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are programs that provide free or low-cost health care coverage based on your household size, income, and other factors, like age and disability. Both programs are jointly run by federal and state governments.This describes the Essential plans, which do the very same thing: provide free or low-cost health care coverage, and do not issue you a 1095-A.

You should not receive a 1095-A if you had a Medicaid or CHIP plan, but you may receive a 1095-B, a form titled Health Coverage. The IRS does not need any details from this form. You can keep it for your records.
