Question

I filed my 2024 tax return on 04/11/2024 with TurboTax and Irs has nothing on file and I was wondering why that is and if TurboTax will make it right?

I dont get why the 2024 AGI from turbo Tax file is unacceptable? I am self employed and have been working for myself. All of my work has been cash or personal checks from homeowners that I repair, remodel or build something for. I was a Union carpenter. 2022 and 2023 I went through hernia surgery twice. Im doing what i can to get by and pay my bills. Something fraudulent for sure is happening here!

Did you efile? Was it Accepted? Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button? Maybe you didn’t finish filing it or it rejected or you were suppose to mail it. When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?

Check back though your emails. When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. If you efiled there should be an Electronic Postmark page. Probably near the end. That is your proof and signature.

2024 AGI

You need your 2024 AGI to efile 2025. The AGI is on 2024 1040 or 1040SR line 11. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.

How to find the AGI.

If you didn't file 2024 or filed it later in the year or mailed it, then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.

Or request a transcript from the IRS

If IRS does not have your 2024 tax return, you will have to submit it again on paper via US Mail.
