I filed an extension and i got reject it said that the SSN didnt match. does it matter the order of which i put my name and my spouse's name?

Yes, the IRS wants you keep the names in the same order as previous filed.  The IRS checks the first name on the return or extension, and in their system the first name of the spouse and SSN must match what they have in their system.

 

Try revising the names to see if you can get accepted.

You don’t need to file Form 4868 if either of you makes a payment now using the IRS
electronic payment options.
You can pay all or part of your estimated income tax due and indicate that the payment is for an extension using Direct Pay (select EXTENSION), the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System, or using a credit or debit card. Your extension is then automatically granted and you will receive a confirmation number for your records.

Any small amount will do.
But, you must bring your total tax paid by Tax Day up to 90% of your final tax to stay away from penalty.

 

If you already know you will get a refund, you don't need an extension.
