I do one photography job a year. Does is go under freelance/small business or earnings from a hobby? Or, possibly somewhere else?

I have a friend that works for a company.  I take photos of their end of the year party once a year.  Not sure where is the best place to report this correctly.

This is the prototypical "hobby income". You're not really marketing, expanding, or investing into a business to grow it. I would enter it as hobby income which will flow through directly to line 21 on Schedule 1 of this year's revamped 1040.

1. Go to Wages & Income

2. Select Miscellaneous Income

3. Click Hobby Income and Expenses
