I have a w2G for winnings and used the zip on the form. I have also double checked it online.

Try the steps in this help article:

You may receive a message like:

ZIP code is invalid for Electronic Filing. You must enter a valid ZIP code for your state. Enter a correct ZIP code in this format 'nnnnn' or 'nnnnn-nnnn'

TurboTax follows the IRS guidelines for acceptable ZIP codes. If the two-letter state abbreviation doesn't match the ZIP code, you'll receive this error when attempting to e-file.

Solution

If you receive this error:

Thank you but I have done all of that over and over and it keeps coming up incorrect.  I think the Luxor Hotel knows their zip!  How can I override this and file?

I would suggest that you delete the entire W-2G and repost it manually.

On the menu in the sidebar on the left.

Select Tax Tools

  • Tip: You may have to minimize tabs for both Federal & State
  1. On the drop-down select Tools
  2. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
  3. This will give you all of the forms in your return
  4. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
  5. Select the Form W-2G
  6. Click on Delete.

How do I enter a W-2G?

We had this issue when entering multiple K-1 forms in TTD Windows. The summary worksheet would not accept the zipcode for personal info. We confirmed it was 5 digits there and on Personal Info. Going to the K-1 there is a checkbox that will allow the address to be removed. In error check you can enter it by hand. It accepted the fix and the error cleared.
