Is this a mandatory thing with Turbotax now?

No, it is not mandatory.

Experian IDNotify is provided as a benefit to users who used the optional PLUS, MAX, or Premium Services Bundle (California).   It starts off as an "included" benefit as part of that paid add-on package.    I don't know if it automatically switches to a paid product when the first year of membership is up or not, but maybe that's what has happened.    Did you use one of those options in the past such as last year's 2024 return?  If so, the included benefit may have expired in April 2026.   But I don't know what normally happens after that.   Did you not get any emails about the benefit expiring?    Is this the first time you are seeing it on your credit card statement?

In any case, the third FAQ below should tell you how to phone IDNotify/Experian to cancel it.    I've also provided contact info for TurboTax Support, if needed.
