I’m using my computer and app, both have the same problem. When I go into the IRA distribution section on previous year distributions, it asks questions about myself and when I say no it doesn’t go any further. When I say yes and enter info it then asks about my spouse. It needs to ask about my spouse even if I say no. Please fix this. There should also be away to report a bug in your software without posting to a public forum. Your AI answers aren’t helpful. I need you to quality check your product.

I am in the process of doing my deceased husband's Trust in TurboTax Business. I have completed deductions for  three rental properties but when I get to the part where TurboTax ask me "if I have any other property expenses", I reply "yes". The problem is what  I write down for one rental property appears for all three properties. Can you help me? I believe this is a programming problem.

I am using the 2025 TurboTax Business desktop program to file my federal S-Corp return.  NJ requires me to file a NJ C-Corp return because I am not registered as an S-Corp state filer. When I try to purchase the NJ C-Corp (CBT-100) return, the pull-down menu only shows the NJ S-Corp state return.  I've checked, and the NJ CBT-100 return is supposed to be available.  How can I purchase the NJ C-Corp return for TurboTax Business?  Does anyone have an idea to help me?

I'm having the same problem.  Turbotax is good at answering tax problems but their ability to solve their own software issues appears to be non-existent

    • What is the problem?

We go married after I sold my home in October 2025. Turbo tax is not allowing the 250k capital gains deduction if we attempt to file married jointly.

Before 10/2027 - I owned my own home and it was my primary residence for over 20 years and my new wife owned her own home and has been her primary home for over 20 years.

Turbo tax is indicating we can not take the deduction.  Maybe because we were forced to call the current home our primary address. (for me only 2 months).

I can file married separately and it seems to work but turbo tax should ask the right questions to determine that we have our own homes before we got married.  And allow us to sell them as we each met the 2 year + minimum and the primary residence not use for other purposes such as renting them.

Additionally we are planning to sell my spouses home within a year a purchase a new home. Preferably in mid 2026. My spouse should be allowed to have the 250k deduction on her house.

    • Are you in TurboTax Online, or are you on Desktop?

We are using the Desktop TurboTax Premier 2025.

    • What version, or product are you in?

    025.000.0273

    • What section are you trying to post?

Wages and Income sale of home.

    • What are the details of your problem or calculation error?

Married filing jointly does not allow the 250k deduction for a single home for newly weds with separate primary homes.

Turbo tax does not seem to allow us to sell the home my spouse owns within 2 years of my home.

Note: Additionally we have a prenup that allows each of us to keep the profits of our homes as separate property.

The IRS does allow us to sell 2 homes within a year if they were owned separately, one of us lived in the home for 2 years + and was the primary home (not rented etc).

If we sold a home we both lived meeting the same and filed jointly we could deduct up 500k in capital gains.

I am at the spot where Turbo Tax asks:

Did you spend more than $xxxx on medical expenses in 2025?

My answer is "yes", and the next screen is:

Tell us about any prescription medication expenses - and the "Prescription expenses" box has $0 and I can't enter a dollar amount.

The same thing occurs on the next screen "Tell us about anything spent on medical professionals".

When I get to the next screen "Tell us about anything spent on medical facility fees", I can actually enter values. See below screenshot

Put the cursor in the box and then double-click.  This should open the Supporting Details window.  Click on Remove

2024 and 2025 turbo tax is not using the Qualified Dividend and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet when there are qualified dividends.  In my case this worksheet allows for lower taxes and, although I can open it, Turbo tax will not accept entries nor use it in the tax calculation.  I suspect this error goes back further.

    @Turbo808tax

I'm no expert on these forms, but I've printed my return to pdf in all forms mode.

I do have the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet.

It is several forms after my Schedule B and then 1099-R's.

Are you saying you do not have it?

    I'm on desktop TTax Deluxe.

I'm using desktop TT Deluxe for Windows and entering itemized deductions, in particular medical expenses.  I can enter everything except for doctors expenses.  I cannot enter anything in the box.  The cursor won't even allow me to click in the box.

This has been a problem for at least 2 previous years.  I know I've reported it, and yet it remains unfixed.  Why?

For Medical you can enter it into any box or put the whole total in any box.   Only the total goes to Schedule A.  The separate boxes are only to help you not forget any expenses.

Okay, but if you're working through your separate medical expenses and cannot enter an amount for "doctors" isn't that a problem?  It doesn't work and hasn't for at least 2 years.

This is what you get with off-shore programming.

Foreign Person's U.S Source Income Subject to withholding form 1042-S.

I was entering my foreign dividend income in the forms manually, Line 12100 - Interest and other investment income.

When you click to enter the income on line 8 it takes you to Federal Slips T5 line 15 and 16.

I converted the U.S dollar amount to Canadian and entered info for Line 15 and 16.

Then I went to verify the information on line 12100 Line 8 and it was correct.

But then I went to verify the FTC form Foreign Tax Credits worksheet an this is where the problem occurs.

It picks up the income from Federal Slips T5 line 15 and reports it as investment income on FTC form Foreign Tax Credits but it also enters picks up line 16 and enters it as investment income on FTC form Foreign Tax Credits.

This increases your investment income and doesn't correctly reflect the withholding tax paid.

    Thanks - Yehuda

I got to the Federal Review and TT reported that there was a problem and offered to fix it. The fix took me to a page in the Smart Check section titled "Check This Entry". The body says:

Education Tuition and Fees Summary: Please check the Launch optimizer checkbox so we can be sure you get the education deduction or credit that saves you the most.

    [ ] Launch optimizer

But when I click the checkbox, it immediately unchecks itself again. TBH it feels like an April Fools joke but it's already April 5

If you entered Education Expenses and you are using TurboTax Desktop, in FORMS mode, 'Open Form'  Education Tuition and Fees Summary.  There's a box to check to 'Launch Optimizer' that flashes and goes away, and the 'Automatic' box is checked below.   This may be what is happening to you in Review.  You can verify that you got the Education Credit on Form 1040, Line 29 and on Form 8863.

If so, don't worry about the checkbox flashing on/off.  Actually, if that is the only error you get in Review, you could go directly to File.
