How can I determine if an employer is withholding federal, state or local taxes? There’s no paystub with the check.

She should ask her employer. They should be withholding social security and medicare but her pay may be so low that they do not need to withhold federal, state, or local taxes. Did she complete at W-4 when she was hired?

Have you asked them?  Did you fill out a W-4 for them?

I’m asking for my 17 year old.  This is a new job for her. Just started 3 weeks ago. She didn’t fill out a W4. I’ve never had this happen and this is the first job where she didn’t fill out a W4.

If you are asking about payments in 2022, the amount of withholding will be shown on the W-2 you receive from your employer. You should not file a tax return until you receive the W-2.

If you are asking about pay in January of 2023, you would need to get that information from your employer.
