@a50fbf6e9f6f - head of household has two requirments

1) you have a qualified dependent (normally a child that lives with you for at least 183 days of the year. )

2) you provide over over 50% of the household expenses

what year are you asking about?  you state you have to do it "immediately' and you tagged yourself as using the online software, but that environment is getting ready for 2022 tax year so is not currently available.  do you need to amend your 2021 tax return????

what are the reasons you need to change from single to head of household? who are you going to list as your qualified dependent and did they live with you for at least 183 daysof the calendar year?

What tax year are you trying to change your filing status for?   And why "immediately?"   If you are amending a 2021 or earlier year,  it will take the IRS six to nine months (or more) to process the amended return.  And if you are talking about 2022 return, you cannot file until late January so there is no rush right now.

In order to file as HOH you must have a qualified dependent.  Do you have a dependent to claim?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

Did you already file your 2021 (or earlier) tax return as single, or have you not filed it yet?

Head of household has a special meaning on a tax return. It does not mean that you are the breadwinner or the person in charge of the household. It's a filing status, like single or married filing jointly. This special filing status is intended for a single person with a child, but it can also be used by a married person with a child who does not live with his or her spouse, if certain requirements are met.
