Head of Household-my dependent disabled son lived with me for 6 months and a few days before moving into a group home. Can I claim head of household?

Yes, your son is most likely a qualifying person for you to file as Head of Household (HOH).  In addition to being your child and living with you more than half of the year he must meet these requirements:

    • He is Permanently and totally disabled OR under the age of 19 as of December 31, 2017  AND
    • He is Single (or if the child is married, you'd have to qualify to claim them as a dependent even if you're not going to claim them as such).

Keep in mind, if you are Married, in order to file HOH, you and your spouse cannot have lived together the last six months of the year.
