Got F1040-516-01, fixed dependent issue. SSN correct, no IP PIN. TurboTax still says return needs review and won’t let me file. How fix?

Reject code F1040-516-01 indicates that your SSN has already been entered as a dependent on another return.

If you are a Dependent of another, you need to revisit the "My Info" section in TurboTax and be sure to indicate Yes to the question Will this person claim you on their 2025 tax return? Once you do this, you should be able to e-file successfully.

If you are not a Dependent of another, you can print and mail your return. Or, if you want to e-file, you will first need to get an Identity Protection PIN from the IRS. Once you get your IP PIN, you can enter it in TurboTax and e-file your return.
