I have foreign-earned interest; no 1099-INT received. Should I still fill in the 1099-INT session in TurboTax and put the interest income in Box 1?

Yes, that you do need to enter the interest as if you received the Form 1099-INT.

I did not receive 1099-INT, because it is a foreign bank. I will fill in, but where to fill in?

To enter your foreign interest income, go to:

    1. Click Federal
    2. Then click Wages & Income
    3. Go to Investment and Savings
    4. Find Interest on 1099‑INT
    5. Click Start or Revisit
    6. When TurboTax asks if you received any 1099‑INT forms. Choose Yes (even though you don’t have one). Choose Yes (even though you don’t have one).
    7.  On the next screen, select , “I’ll type it in myself”
    8. For Payer’s name, type something like: “Foreign Bank – Interest” Enter the amount of interest you earned.
    9. Now if you paid foreign taxes on this interest, check a box in the form that says My form has information in other boxes. Look for Box 7, as this will report foreign taxes paid on this interest.
    10. There will be other follow-up questions that will be asked regarding the foreign interest income and the country where this was issued from.
    11. This information is needed to claim a foreign tax credit if you paid foreign taxes on this interest.
