File an amended tax return - feature enhancement request

I am using TurboTax Home & Business Desktop Version 2025 and need to file an amended return. I am able to navigate to this page only after searching for "amended return". The only other way I have found to do this is to relaunch the app on my MacBook Pro, where I am taken to the home page which displays, "Welcome Back, Brian". Under the heading, "Manage Your Returns", the following link is available: Amend a return (make changes) after it was filed and accepted by the IRS. This allows me to initiate the workflow to amend my tax return. However, if one navigates off this page in TurboTax Home & Business Desktop Version 2025, there is no home button or menu item that allows you to return to the Welcome Back page in order to click on "Amend a return". You have to either quit and relaunch TurboTax or search for "amended return" and follow the links. Wondering if any one knows how to do start this process any differently than I have described. I feel we really need a home button or menu item to facilitate this process.

It is because the amended Form 1040-X is not yet available in any TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop product.  The amended Form 1040-X is not yet available. The IRS is not willing to accept an amendment for the current tax year early in the tax season. Use the link below to check to see when it will be available. Do not change your tax return until you read all the instructions. TurboTax needs to know the original numbers and the corrected numbers to provide the correct end results before you prepare it.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.

    • You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
    • You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
    • Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
    • The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
    • Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
    • You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

Thank you DianeW777 ! This infomation is invaluable. I have removed my newly received W2 from my original return, as advised, and will enter this information when the 1040-X becomes available. As of 2/24/2026, this form should be released on 3/3/2026 (but may again become delayed past this date). I expect TurboTax will make this process easy! I appreciate YOU!
