Can we still get the $1200 credit if we are getting money back on our Federal Income tax return? It says you have to have income tax liability to get it. It doesn't mean we have to owe money on our return does it?

Hello Steven,

You can still get the credit even if you get a refund. When they talk about tax liability they mean the amount of tax due on your taxable income.

Example $10,000 taxable income

Tax liability $1,000

Taxes withheld $1,500

Refund $500
