EV TAX CREDIT: I am married filing separately so that my wife qualified for the EV tax credit, how can I get TurboTax to accept the qualifying income and vehicle?

If you are using the Married Filing Separately filing status that means that both you and your wife will be filing completely separate tax returns.

You would need to be working on her tax return in order to see any credits or deductions that have been entered.  You cannot see that information while working on your return.

You can file Married Filing Separate and still get the EV tax credit.

Your Spouses AGI is limited to $150,000

You would then enter the credit on her return:

  1. Deductions & Credits
  2. Click on Work on other breaks
  3. Scroll to Energy-Efficient Vehicles [Start] or [Revisit]
  4. Follow the interview

I thought that was the case, but when I go to deductions and enter the info, it says zero credit. When filing separately, is there a way to get to my wife’s deduction section?
