Efiled federal return was rejected, but nothing was wrong.

Turbotax emailed fed and state tax was rejected. Reviewed everything and everything was correct, so re-emailed it via Turbotax. Message said its on its way but may not know if its accepted for up to 48 hrs. It's July 15. If it is not accepted, it will be late. Will I be fined by the feds and state?

It does not take 48 hrs, no worries. You should get an email or text letting you know that it was accepted by the IRS, the state takes a little longer to email.

It can take up to 48 hours for the e-File submission to be accepted (and occasionally, longer). However, it is considered timely filed as long as you transmit it before the deadline. If it is rejected, you have until July 20, 2020 to update the file and submit it again, or print and mail the return.

You might try filing for an Extension, just in case there is some unusual problem that you cannot fix by the 20th.
