We provided all support for the entire eight months. Can we claim him as a dependent for 2022?

Yes, you can claim him if he was eligible for you to claim him at the time of his death. So sorry for your loss.

Yes you can claim him on your tax return as a dependent.

You may treat a child who was born alive or died in 2022 as having lived with you for more than half of 2022 if your main home was the child’s main home (or would have been) for more than half of the time he or she was alive in 2022
