Question

Did turbotax change this year? It will not let me file for free because i collected unemployment. But I collected unemployment in 2020 and filed for free. Did it change?

I'm not sure about the 2020 version of TurboTax, but you can't file free for 2021 if you have unemployment income.

You could file free last year. Not sure why the cruelty this year. Turbotax is beating people when they are down

    Depending on what your tax situation was last year, you might need to use new tax forms to claim the same deductions, credits, or forms of income. Some of the situations that are now in TurboTax Deluxe and TurboTax Live Deluxe, instead of in Free Edition, include:
