Although I answered no to having a dependent, I was asked if I had children, their ETA, living situation, and answered truthful. I have a 3 year old whom has always lived with me. 2018, i became a stay at home mom, after i found out i was pregnant. I didn't receive child tax credit, I didn't receive money from unemployment, wasn't in any assistance program for money or food. I barely had health insurance. With that being said, I began working from home in 2021. I tried explaining that to the app when filing but uhm.. I somehow ended up filing my son rather than his . Which was the plan all along. He received all child tax credit and I knew that was important to abide by when filing. I was compliant with that idea. Honestly. Now both of our returns are taking longer than the acceptance date. What do I do.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.

If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.

Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.

If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X. return.

Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed

See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2021 TurboTax online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-filed/00/25588

Actually, I had to amend my return this year, and once it was approved, I was able to go back into TurboTax online and make the adjustment.  Hope this helps.

Do not send the amended return until the original return has been fully processed and the original refund is in your hand.  Not sure how you could be using the 2021 amendment option as it is not yet functional.  Just making changes in the 2021 program without the amendment process being functional will not change the return you already filed.  If that is what you did then UNDO the changes and wait for the amendment process to open up in mid  March.
