Can I still file for 2017 electronically through Turbo Tax. As I proceed it appears I am only working on 2018, even though it asked if I had filed for 2017.

No you cannot e-file a 2017 return. If you are trying to use the current online software for a 2017 return, STOP. The online software is only for 2018. Clear it and start over later when you are ready to file for 2018. If you use the online software for 2017 you will have a real mess to clean up.

If you need to prepare a return for 2015, 2016, or 2017 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
