Can I get a dependent tax credit for supporting a child who files her own taxes because she is a full-time student who also works full-time?

Your child may be considered to be your Qualifying Child, and you  may be able to claim your him or her as a dependent if he/she:

  • is under age 24
  • is a full time student
  • lives with you
  • does not provide more than half of his or her own support.

The last item is important, because you don't have to provide more than half the support, but the student can not have supported himself/herself.
