Question

Can I deduct marketplace premiums if my spouse is self-employed?

I am married filing jointly, and I am the main contact on our market place plan. I receive a W-2 but my wife is self-employed and relieved a 1099-NEC. We are under the impression that her self-employment status means that we can deduct our premiums but we are uncertain because my name is listed as the recipient on form 1095-A and my wife is listed as the recipient's spouse.

Yes, a self-employed individual can deduct health insurance premiums for themselves, their spouse, and their dependents.   Since you are filing a joint return and she is a covered spouse on that policy, the plan is considered "established" for her as well.     Deducting health insurance premiums

What is the self-employed health insurance deduction?
