Solved

Can I claim my son as a dependent if in 2016 he was 19 and was not a full time student? He was employed but did not make enough money to support himself.

Yes, you can. If you paid more than half of what it costs to support your son (rent, food, etc), you can claim your son.

Enter his information in TurboTax and continue to answer the questions related to him. How long did he live with you? How much income did he earn? Etc. Etc.TurboTax will tell you if he qualifies to be your dependent based on your answers.

thank you Danielle.  I had someone H&R Block tell me I could not claim him because he wasn't a full time student.  I was told to amend his return done with TurboTax so he could take a bigger deduction for himself $10,350 and get a bigger return.  I started to do that in TurboTax and now shows he owes money!  I'm confused!!
