Amending 2022 return, I may have messed up

I know that I forgot to add my new vehicle expense to my 2022 tax return.  we sold our old car and got a new one and are now using that new one for my wife's business.  I remembered to enter the miles for the old car, but forgot to enter the new car, and I've already e-filed.

to understand the impact I opened up my desktop turbotax and quickly made the change to see that it is about a $800 difference in the bottom line for state and federal...  I then closed, but didn't save the file.

However, when I open the file back up and say that I want to start an amended return it seems to have these changes already in it.  Instead of starting with $0 in the refund status boxes it has $700ish in federal and $100ish in state.

Then when I go a little further it says that it is not detecting any differences between my filed and amended return...?  Is there a way to load and start from the file that I actually filed?  or maybe I need to un-edit this file, start the amendment and then re-edit?  I should be able to do that.

Thanks

If you started amending your federal return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment, follow the steps in the link below:

How do I cancel or undo an amended return in the TurboTax CD/Download software?

Thanks, I will give this a try this week and reply back with how it goes.

It is a little annoying that the software does not warn you that you are changing a submitted return, or better yet give you the option to save a copy to work on or something.   And that it saves your changes even though I told it not to save...  It should warn you that it does this otherwise it gives you the impression that you can choose not to save changes.

Alright, so now I have a new issue.  I went through and deleted the amended return from both federal and state.  And then made the changes to my federal return.  I added a PA 1099G tax return from last year and added in business milage for my wife's new car that I had mistakenly forgotten.  Everything seemed to be working fine.

Now I should note that I live in delaware, my wife is a contractor in delaware (self employed/business) and I have rental properties in delaware.  My job though is in PA.  So every year I file a PA return.  I always do this separately because PA has a separate, simple, free, electronic filing system, outside of turbotax.  and it is simple because I just list my gross income from my job in PA, and it is a flat % tax.

Anyway for some reason after I amended my return turbo tax is creating a PA tax return, and it is including all of our other DE income, businesses, etc that I do not believe should be on there.  I tried going into the forms view and just deleting the PA-40 form out of there, but then during the error check turbotax said that there were 29 missing entries from PA-40 forms...

So, I thought no big deal, I will just file the federal and DE state amended returns, not PA, but when I go through the process I see that it is including this PA-40 form in my saved return (and maybe sending it with my federal return also? I am not sure).  Also when I go to efile it also does not give me an option to efile my DE amended return...?  I am not sure how to resolve this.

Is there some way that I can stop it from creating this PA-40 Return, and to efile just my federal and DE state returns?
