Active duty military still being charged for services on my return

I have went through and rechecked everything on my return and it's checked that I'm active duty military and I'm still being charged when I get to the end of my joint return with my wife. I'm just using the deluxe version, nothing with the life version.

First, make sure you entered your enlisted pay grade where you entered your personal information.

i.e. no officers.

Then, Go edit the DFAS W-2 again, and on a page AFTER the main entries for that W-2, there is a page with a whole long list of checkboxes....there is one that MUST be checked to indicate that the W-2 is for active duty military service. Without that checkbox, there is no free military filing. (Civilian DFAS employees get W-2 forms too, but no free filing).

That should(?) do it, as long as you are using the "Online" browser-based software (Not the desktop/download software)

I did all this when I was inputting everything and still getting charged when I reach the end. This isn’t my first time inputting my taxes on my own.

If you did all this -

In the My Info section of the program you need to indicate that you are active military. You must enter a Military W-2 in the Wages & Income section and after completing the W-2 on the screen labeled Let's check for uncommon situations you will need to check the box Active military duty

You should have received the discount.
