Question

Accidentally included a third-party sick pay W2 with mailed return. Problem?

I had to file by mail this year and had a W2 for third party sick pay (code J in box 12; box 13 3rd party sick pay checked; $0 in boxes 1, 3, and 5). I mailed it in along with my return and other W2s.

The return still hasn't been processed. Is it a problem that this W2 is in there even though it doesn't "need" to be included from what I read?

Thanks.

No, sending in a W2 that didn't need to be attached won't slow down the processing of your return.

Keep in mind, when filing by mail, it usually takes 3-4 weeks before you begin to see status updates on the IRS Where's My Refund? tool.
