2022 returns not showing up in desktop version

I opened 2022 ttax premier to continue with tax planning for the end of year, but there were NO data files. I just used it a month ago, and now every single data file is missing. the program starts with "welcome to turboxtax" and the transfer options only give me 2021 returns. But i've already used it for 2022 returns. Yet, when I open the 2023 ttax premier, then the prior year data files are found. I don't understand why the 2022 program doesn't see them at all. HELP!

You need to do a search on your computer, all hard drives, all removable drives and any cloud storage you may have used. Search for files which have a file extension of .tax2022.

TurboTax will store all tax data files and any saved PDF's in the TurboTax folder within the Documents directory, unless the user changed the default location for saved files.

If the 2023 program is locating the 2022 tax data files for transfer then those files will be in the TurboTax folder.

When you start the 2022 program click on File in the upper left of the desktop program screen, then click on Open Tax Return, if not found then click on Find a tax file.

Thanks for your quick response. When I click on file, the program opens with "Welcome to Turbotax", it isn't locating any files. I admit that it is weird that the 2023 program is able to retrieve them and transfer them over. I didn't change the location of the files, and as I had mentioned in my original post, I had just used the 2022 version in november, as I was actively doing tax planning for myself. But as of now, the 2022 program is not finding any active 2022 data files. I am completely stumped.

Do the 2022 tax data files show up in the TurboTax folder within the Documents directory?

If they do then make sure the TurboTax program for 2022 is closed. Then double click on the .tax2022 tax data file. This should start the 2022 program and open the 2022 tax return.
