Question

1099-R Box 2A doesn't flow to 1040

I did a couple of tax filing for my husband and myself. In my husband's tax filing, the input from Form 1099-R Box 2A is reflected in his 1040 but not mine. Is it a bug in the TurboTax? Thank you.

No bugs.  Could be a couple of items to review.  Did you do a rollover to another qualified plan?  Check the coding in box 7.  If it a G or did you tell TurboTax you rolled the proceeds into another plan or IRA?  This would cause the box 2A to not be reported as income in TurboTax.

You could also try deleting the 1099R through Tools and re-enter. This will clear the 1099R completely from your return.  While in your return in TurboTax:

    • In the left hand column select "Tax Tools"
    • Select "Tools"
    • Select "Delete a form"
    • Review for form 1099-R
    • Delete selected form then "Back"
    • Go to the 1099R entry screens and re-add the 1099R

Thank you @sls50211 for taking the time to respond to my question. Box 7 is G. My 1099-R and my husband are exactly the same as to which boxes are populated (except the amounts are different). However, his 1099-R flows correctly to 1040 but not mine, despite I removed and re-added the 1099-R. I've even install the latest TurboTax update. I'm baffled .....

I had a similar problem with box 4 federal income tax withheld not transferring. Unfortunately, I caught this after I filed so I must amend my taxes. Now I wonder what other numbers did not transfer, we have to double check all data on each output form!
