@jameswmoses Yes, when I was working on examples of the Maryland two-income exemption, I was using the online version of TurboTax.   Since the download version must be paid for "up front". that does give some leeway in being able to check on specific forms in your return.  Because the online version only requires the payment after the return has been completed, that prevents the forms from being seen until the service had been paid for.   I tried yet another example, using only IRA's, Interest and Social Security income and the two-income subtraction came out at $1,200 for that example.  Without knowing the specifics of the income you have (please do not share them in this forum), it makes it difficult to diagnose why the income subtraction is not working correctly for you.   I recommend that you try contacting TurboTax, using the following link:  TurboTax contact information

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

No, you don't need to report that the previously reported interest was under a different social security number.  Just report the interest that has accrued since she passed as you were going to and you're set.   However, make sure that you retain all of the records related to the bonds so that if any questions arise later you're able to prove that everything is ok.

That information will be on your W-2----which the employer has until January 31 to issue.   TurboTax cannot get the EIN for you.     W-2’s come from employers.  There is not a federal or national website that provides W-2’s.   If your employer is partnered with TurboTax to allow the W-2 data to be imported into the software you can do that---but you need the actual W-2 so that you can enter the EIN and the amount from box 1 to import the other data from the W-2---which just saves you the little bit of keying in of the other information.   W-2's come from your employer, and they have until January 31 to issue it.  Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it. Some employers have payroll sites that will have your W-2. You might need to phone, text, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

A ROTH IRA conversion is entered off of the Form 1099-R that you receive reporting the distribution from your traditional IRA. You enter that in the Wages and Income section, then Retirement Plans and Social Security, then 1099-R, IRAs, 401-K, early withdrawals. I believe you may be in the Deductions and Credits section where you enter IRS contributions.
Yes, I saw that. But how do we change our answer to elect not to sign up for the Trump accounts?

This work around allows access to the form, but does not populate on the interview side as anything other than showing the deduction credit in the refund.  I bought this program so I wouldn't fill out forms incorrectly by answering the interview questions.  Is TurboTax no longer a successful tax preparation program?  Did I waste my money on something that I have to use work arounds on?

When it provides the schedule for me to note my coverage throughout 2025, it confirms I am within the pro-rated amount and ignores the last-month rule if I choose "NOV" instead of "DEC". If I say I did not have HDHP coverage for DEC 2024 it also ignores the last-month rule for 2025. I agree that it should not matter, but because I had a lapse in coverage in 2025 and coincidentally started a HDHP in DEC 2025 it's trying to claim I neglected to maintain the testing period for the last-month rule for 2024-2025. I can tell you my 2024 8889 is blank for boxes 18, 20, and 21.   For 2025 when it says I owe $346, on my 1040 Schedule 1 it shows that amount in boxes 8f, 9, and 10. It also includes the amount on form 8889 in boxes 18 and 20, with 35 in 21.   I've included screenshots from the smart work sheet for boxes 3 and 18 on form 8889. When I complete the wizard online, it shows I have "Self-only" selected for JAN 2024. I don't know why it is disappearing and causing this.

Your situation is unclear.  You can keep an HSA open forever, even after you retire.  If you withdraw money, the bank must issue a 1099.  If the company kicks you out of their HSA, you have 60 days to open a private HSA at any bank that offers them and rollover the funds to the new HSA.  The bank still must issue a 1099.   The only reason I can think of that the bank would not issue a 1099 is if you closed the account in a prior year (2024 or earlier) and this is some kind of corrective distribution because they are refunding a fee they should not have charged or recalculated your interest.   In that case, this would be reported as other taxable income (it could be a taxable recover -- refund of previously deducted money)  BUT if you paid out of pocket medical expenses that are at least as much as the check, you can ignore it, it is not taxable.   If this was an account that was closed in 2025, the bank must issue a 1099 and something odd is happening at the bank.
