Youth Sports Team Fees

I am a manager for two youth soccer teams.  Two to three times a year the parents are required to send me fees for their child to help cover the cost of equipment, registering for tournaments and anything else related directly to team expenses.  This is well-over $600 per year, usually $2k or more, per team, each time I collect.)  I accept payment through Venmo, PayPal and Zelle.  Will I have to file a 1099 even though this is not income?

These registration fees are income to someone or an entity.  If you are not the owner of these sport teams I would not recommend collecting fees in your name.  If you do you will receive a 1099 to be used in your next tax filing.  If you have to receive them personally you will get the opportunity to add expenses for the equipment purchased which should zero out the income and not produce any additional taxes for you.
