Not Self employed need only TTYL Deluxe

Last year was the first time to use the web online version of Turbo Tax.  We’ve always purchased the CD but our computer is no longer supported. We ask for Turbo Tax Deluxe.  Somewhere during the data entry it changed to self employed, which we are not and never have been self employed.  We didn’t want to start all over so I contacted a live Turbo Tax rep and she gave us a code that gave us the appropriate filing discount.  We then filed with no issues.  Now we keep getting notifications about self employed information.  When we file for 2021 we want ensure it doesn’t change to self employed. How can we make sure it stays as Turbo tax Deluxe for a Retired Married Couple?

Hi @Vikimar sorry to hear this has happened to you, if you do run into this issue in 2022, let us know and we can take a look to see exactly what happened and why you are getting upgraded to the Self Employment version of TTO.  We can assist you in determining why you are being asked to upgrade.

I didn’t even realize I was upgraded from Deluxe to Self-Employed (which I have never been) until I was ready to file and pay fees.  Where should I be looking?

Once you are logged into your return, you should see your version of Turbotax listed on the upper left above Tax Home with a Checkmark
