I was in basic training for about 8 weeks and was separated in basic training. Do I have to check that I made money in another state?

Tax help for military filers

No, when you were active duty military - no matter the length of time, you list your Home of Record (HOR) state or State of Legal Residence (SLR) as your resident state, even if you were in basic training in a different state.  If you earned income from a civilian job in another state, then you would say that you made money in another state.
