Retirement tax questions

Here's how to enter your 1099-LTC into TurboTax:

  1. Open (continue) your return if it's not already open.
  2. Search for this exact phrase (copy/paste strongly recommended): 1099-ltc, long-term care - distribution and select the Jump to link.
  3. On the Any Long-Term Care Contracts? screen, answer Yes to the first question (and Yes to the second question if it applies, otherwise No) and select Continue.
  4. Follow the instructions. If you need Form 1099-LTC we'll fill it out for you.

Note: In TurboTax Online Free Edition, you'll be prompted to upgrade to Deluxe.

Yes, the instructions are very similar in Home & Business.

You can type 1099 LTC into the search box and choose Jump To.

Or choose the Personal Tab, scroll all the way down under Less Common Income and choose Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C and you will see the choice for LTC account distributions, 1099-LTC.  Follow the On-Screen Prompts.

Enter 1099-ltc, long-term care - distribution in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to 1099-ltc, long-term care - distribution

So, there is no link to take one to the 1099-LTC.

I am using a Turbotax Deluxe.

When clicking on MISC Income (More Info), here is what shows up --

"What paperwork do I need?

Miscellaneous income can be reported on lots of different income statements. A few examples include:

- Form 1099-LTC
- Form 1099-Q
- Forms 1099-A or 1099-C" ...but there is no link.

Ok, finally figured this one out.  One must walk through all the misc sections and then come to where they can put long-term cost  (1099-LTC).
