Retirement tax questions

Probably not.  You would only be required to file a tax return if the taxable portion of your social security income is greater than the  filing requirement threshold for your filing status.  For example, if you are married, filing jointly, and both of you are over 65, you would be required to file if your taxable social security income was greater than $23,200.  If you are married, filing separately, you would be required to file if your taxable social security income is greater than $4,050.
