I received a 1099-G from the Ohio Department of Taxation regarding an overpayment on my 2016 returns. What does this mean and what should I do with the number?

A refund of your state income tax is only taxable if you itemized deductions on your federal return in 2015. if you did not, you can ignore the 1099-G. In fact, if you used TurboTax (TT) last year, TT has already accounted for it.
