Problem with 1099R?
My husband closed his ROTH and intended to roll the entire amount over into another ROTH account. He inadvertently filled out the wrong form and the investment company withheld 4% for state taxes. How do we indicate this on the federal form?

The state withholding should be indicated on the 1099-R in Box 12. Just enter the information from the 1099-R and the withholding will flow to the state return (if the form has been finalized).
