Dad died in Dec 2015. I did not get funds from his insurance annuity until 2016 and as executor of his estate used the funds to pay part of his funeral expenses. It only covered about half the cost and I got a 1099R in 2016 with my name as the recipient. It is being considered as income for me in turbo tax so am I able to deduct the balance of the funeral expenses against this income? If so, how and where?
