The wrong name shows up as to who made a rollover contribution on a joint NJ return. Can this be corrected and does it matter?

Retirement tax questions
Yes, it matters and yes it can be corrected. The IRS has a matching program and will be looking for a 1099-R with the same name and identifying number as was reported to them on your return.
To correct this issue, please revisit your Federal return, Wages & Income tab. Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security and then Show more. Revisit the subject IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) and edit the suspect 1099-R. The first question is "Verify the Owner of This 1099-R." Make sure the radio button is selected for the correct taxpayer.
