i had a rental home repair project that started in 2019 and completed in 2020. can I deduct all the costs in 2020 or do I need to separate them and amend my 2019 taxes.
You deduct rental repairs in the year you pay for them.
Rental expenses are claimed in the tax year they are paid. It does not matter in what tax year the work was actually done.
