Qualify for AOTC, but cannot claim in Turbotax.
I have received the AOTC for the past two years (2016, 2017). Next year will be my last year as a college student. Turbo says I qualify, but am still unable to claim. I am concerned that I will not be able to claim the 2018 AOTC for reasons I am unaware of. Here is some more information:
- I am single and claiming myself.
- Full time student.
- Have only claimed the AOTC twice.
- Am not graduating this year.
- Did not have enough income/wages for a refund (made less than $500).
- My 'other education expenses' are less than $200.
- I received about $4,500 in grants & scholarships.
- My tuition & related expenses were around $14,000 for 2018.
From what I have read, these things should not affect my ability to claim the AOTC. Could any of this information prevent me from claiming? Are there other reasons why I cannot claim? Let me know if I am missing something.
