I was on F1 OPT from 2011-2017,filed my 2016 tax with Turbotax(5 year presence test). But i recently changed to H1B visa on Nov 15, 2017, will this affect my tax return?

I asked my univ last year about the process and they said i qualify as a resident for tax purposes since i was in the US for more than 5 years and i pass the Substantial Presence Test. So i used Turbotax and it went fine.

As a F-visa holder, you are considered as a nonresident from 2011-2015.  Starting from January 1, 2016, you will be considered as a US resident for tax purposes if you meet the SPT.  Changing to a H-1B visa does not contradict with the days you are present in the US and thus does not affect your 2017 filing.  Therefore, you are still considered as a resident and file a Form 1040 for your 2017 taxes.
