Loan changed servicers; do I enter Points for each servicer or only the first?

We received two 1098s because our loan changed servicers in 2016 (also the year we made our home purchase).  The first 1098 lists the Points we paid in box 6; the 2nd 1098 for the 2nd servicer does not list the amount paid for Points. Should we enter the Points we paid twice, for both loan servicers, or only once, for the first servicer?

Enter the points only once for the 1st lender. It is a common practice for banks to sell their mortgage notes to other banks. Often this takes place shortly after you took out the mortgage, but it can happen anytime.

But you only paid the points to the original lender, not the 2nd one. The 2nd lender just bought the outstanding balance and will now service the loan.

Enter the 1098's one at time in the Your Home section. After entering the 1st 1098, select the 'add a lender' link to enter the 2nd 1098.
