Can I use a standard 1040? I drove 944 miles for healthcare and paid $282.85 in state ferries tolls. What section of the form do I enter these expenses?

You can prepare a 1040 form if you itemize your deductions.

You can deduct unreimbursed medical /insurance expenses (including medical travel) paid out of pocket if you itemize and the total expenses for you, your spouse, and your dependents exceed 7.5 % of your adjusted gross income. The deduction is limited to the expenses above and beyond this amount.

To enter medical expenses:

·        Type in medical expenses the search box, top right of your screen, then click the 

          magnifying glass

·        Click the jump to medical expenses link in the search results

·        Follow to prompts and online instructions

Arrive at the Tell us about anything spent on medical travel page and make your entries
