I am self employed/work as an independent contractor and take the train to work everyday, does this count as a travel expense?

Deductions & credits

It depends but if your main work office is your home (so that you can claim a home office expense), then your train travel to work locations would be considered business travel.

However, if you take the train to your main office (and you deduct the rent of this office as a business expense), then your train travel will be considered a non-deductible commuting expense.
