Do I file form 8283 if total donation is over $500 or if an individual item is over $500. I donated 1 gym equipment at $480 and clothing at $175. Is form 8283 needed?
Does it matter if all items are donated to the same charity when deciding if form 8283 is needed?

Deductions & credits
If the total of all non-cash donations is more than $500 (regardless of to whom or when) then you need to include form 8283. Turbotax will automatically do this for you. In most cases, the form is filed electronically along with the rest of your tax return. In a few rare cases (certain kinds of donations, donations over $5,000) the form must be signed by an appraiser, or an official from the charity, or both, and mailed to the IRS after the rest of the return is e-filed.
