any payroll deductions for HSA are supposed to be deducted from box 1 of the w-2. that's how you get the deduction. they should show up in box 12w of w-2 along with any employer match and flow tp line 9 of the 8889 for yourself. do not enter payroll deductions as your contributions otherwise you will double up. Only direct contributions you make should be entered as your contributions
